This past May, Dr. Jarrod Cornehl attended the American Academy of Facial Esthetics' Solid Filler PDO ThreadLift training in New York, NY. Threadlifting is a technique that lifts sagging skin, creating a rejuvenated appearance. It is most commonly used on facial areas and the neck.
The AAFE training in New York focused on the Academy's new threadlifting protocols, which are designed to maximize the comfort and effectiveness of the treatment. It involved live patients and gave practitioners a chance to hone their craft with the latest techniques. Here are some of the great benefits of this treatment:
- Boosts volume beneath the skin
- Reduces lines around the lips (smile lines)
- Smoothes vertical lines between the brows
- Improves skin tone
- Tightens skin
- Tightens pores
"What is threadlifting?" Sagging skin and tissue is lifted with threadlifting. PDO threads are made of a material called polydioxanone. The threads – injected via a thin needle – literally lift the tissue to address sagging. They also stimulate the production of new collagen, which is like scaffolding that supports healthy, youthful skin. Threadlifts also promote the production of new hyaluronic acid and elastin in your skin. The threads are naturally absorbed and broken down by your body in the months following, but the lifting effect will remain for up to 1-2 years.
